Here are a few of the articles and projects that I have worked on over the last few years.
Beyond Broadband. Subtitled How to give our communities the digital networks they need, this guide has become an important resource for community groups developing broadband projects. A second edition has just been published (Jan 2012).
Broadband Access in the 21st century: Applications, Services, and Technologies is a Cisco White Paper written to demonstrate thought leadership in this sector. I gathered information from a number of Cisco experts and edited them into a coherent, single document.
The FTTH Business Guide analyses major influences on the business case for fibre to the home. I was the ghost writer for the first edition in 2010, and the second edition in 2011.
FTTH Handbook is a technical guide to fibre-to-the-home technology and deployment. I edited the whole document in 2010 and 2011, and edited new sections in 2012.
Better by design is an account of optical fiber manufacturing at Draka's factory in Douvrin, France. Published in Broadband Journal January 2011
And then there was light is an account of Theodore Maiman and the race to make a laser. Published in PhysicsWorld May 2010 special issue to celebrate 50 years of the laser.
